Crafted pieces bring tremendous value to a project. We all instantly understand the beauty and value these things, because they show the touch of the human hand. A client recently remarked that visitors to his house immediately start touching everything, the wood surfaces, the stone, the steel. Sometimes we actually see with our hands, we touch a piece and somehow connect to its maker.
Contrasting materials such as steel and wood or glass and wood or stone and wood, allow each material to become more intense and brings out the inherent beauty in each surface as the materials are juxtaposed.
In Scandinavia, craft is always associated with technology and machines. Our work always involves advanced technology such as CNC routing machines or huge industrial water jet cutters. These amazing machines are directly driven by our CAD drawings, and the level of detail they can create is staggering. Incidentally, the costs are also reasonable.
We may use sophisticated technology, but every project begins with a hand-drawn sketch on piece of paper. The human hand directs the machine.
